PhotobucketMy husband and I just bought a new terrace house. There are lots of things that we have to do before we can move in. We planned to buy new furniture as well for the new house. So far we already bought a 42′ flat screen tv, wall painting and also the small house deco such as vases, flowers, candles and many more. Currently we hired workers to renovate the kitchen and also the dining room. We’ve decided to install the floor tiles for the entire house area. My husband told me that by using suitable tiles, the house will look modern and stylish and that is the concept that both of us agreed earlier for our new house. I can’t for the final result!!!

  • Sleepwalking

Sleepwalking is a less understood phenomenon that affect a large number of us at some point in our life. Sleepwalking is especially common among children and it will disappear as the grow older. But sadly, sleepwalking persevere into adulthood.

I don’t have any experience about this actually but I just want to share my brother’s experience about this. This story happened when he was a boy. Mom told us that he walked around the dining table for several times! What was shocking is, he listened to my father’s instruction. Father asked him to turn around the table and he followed the instruction. Then father asked him to get out from the house and surprisingly he did tried to open the door but then father asked him to go back to his bed. What is so weird is, he followed the instruction very well and he didn’t open his eyes but he knew the direction and managed to walk without stumbled upon any furniture at home. Amazing right?

Sometimes sleepwalkers are involved in accidents and other mishaps. Fortunately, few children who sleepwalk come to any serious harm. However, a third of all adults report that they harm themselves or others when sleepwalking. One reason why adults are more likely than children to suffer harm while sleepwalking is that they spend more time sleeping in unfamiliar surroundings. Research shows that sleepwalkers are on autopilot and navigate from memory. This helps explain why sleepwalkers often get into trouble when they are away from home.

  • A cup of coffee anyone?

coffeemakerOne of my favourite drink is coffee of course! It can energizes me instantly. When ever I have an assignment or any important work to do, I will grab a cup of coffee and automatically my brain works excellently. I actually love the taste and the aroma of the coffee and that is why I always make the coffee by myself by using the coffee makers. With it, I can get the truly pure aroma of the coffee and the smell can make me stay calm and relax. You don’t believe me? Why not you use the coffee makers and feel the sensation by yourself.

  • Slow Banking

    Date: 2009.10.26 | Category: Teaching | Response: 0

I just got back from a ‘famous’ bank in my country. I guess as an estbalished bank in this country, the service should be tip top but I was so disappointed with it. Actually I wanted to open an account with that particular bank. Currently i’m using service from other bank and so far the service given is satisfying me. Then, I think I should open other account in other bank in order to manage my money but it turn up to be very disappointing.

I went there at about 11.45 and the clerk told me that there are currently 9 people waiting to open their account. I thought that should be OK for me to wait for my turn but then the clerk told me that for each person the process would be more than 30 minutes and she adviced me to come back early in the morning tomorrow.

I was so shocked! I’ve never been to a bank that take more than 30 minutes to process a new account application. I decided to go back because I don’t have time to wait that long! and I don’t know when I can go to that bank again because I have other comitment. I was so upset with the slow process and at the same time I was so depressed because I’ve arranged my time for the whole day so that I can complete my application but unfortunately it turn to be the other way around!

    Artificial Christmas Tree

Christmas is approaching. For those who celebrate it, I’m sure that you guys are busy planning the best things for Christmas this year. I’m not talking about new clothes or new house deco but I’m talking about Christmas tree! Why not this year, you try something new, try NOT TO CUT more live trees, try to save the natural beauty by using artificial christmas trees! It is cleaner because you don’t need to water them all the time and it is reusable so you can put it up agian and again. Although it is quite expensive but it is actually worth it, economical and at the same time you are protecting the environment.

  • “A slip of the tongue” VS “A slip of the thumb”

I’m so amaze on how language can evolve from time to time. It is just like technology where there is always new things to improve the existance one.

A slip of the tongue. If you say something by accident, something you don’t mean to say but perhaps it sounds similar to your intended sentence, we might call this a slip of the tongue. If, for example, you are introducing your current boyfriend or girlfriend, and you use the name of your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, it’s a slip of the tongue. Quite a bad one.

A slip of the thumb is the same but by text, SMS or perhaps an email sent by a handheld device. You might not notice when your predictive texting selects the wrong word – book instead of cool for example, or nun instead of mum! Alternatively, the person who receives your message might not be the person you meant to send it to. This can happen just by pressing the wrong button or the right button once too often.

  • Multiracial Classroom

I live in a multiracial country. I also work in a multiracial school. Although it sounds harmony but it is actually chalenging when dealing with people who use different language to communicate.

For good class, there should be no problem because we all use the same language although the language being used is not our mother tongue. We all understood each other eventhough some of them can’t speak the language fluently. Problem will arise when teacher and students have different language. Student can’t understand the teacher (this is a BIG problem) and teacher can’t understand the students (less problem with this).

I’ve been assigned to take over this one class for a period of time. Majority of the students in this class don’t speak either Malay or English (I only can converse in these two languages). This should be not problem with me. As usual, I gave them work that related with the subject that I took over. Not all students were happy with the given work. Some gave negative expression, some were used to ‘extra work’ and some were showing their unwilingness by saying bad words in their mother tongue.

I noticed that this particular boy, with negative expression kept on and on nagging, he was looking at me as if I’ve made something wrong. Then one girl came to me. She said the boy was not satisfied with the work that I gave him. He said I’m annoying and troubled him.

Actually that is just one example. I wish I can learn more languages so that I could understand everybody in my class especially when they are saying bad things about me. I’m so dissapointed because students respect teachers less nowadays.

  • I’m back!

Here I am again after a long holiday and finally i’m here. I’m so glad and I can’t wait to write all my experience in this blog.

We (my family and I) actually went for a family day at Endau-Ropin for four days and three night. We were staying at a place called Serai Beach Resort. It takes about 4 hours for us to reach the resort from our house. Along the way, we met villages, small town and forest as well. I did not travel for so long and that’s why I easily get tired. The worst things was, my husband didn’t allow me to sleep because he’ll fell bored and sleepy and cannot continue the journey. So I forced myself to keep awake all along the way.

Usually when people go for a holiday, the moment they come back they’ll tell how enjoyable the holiday was but it never happened to me at Serai Beach Resort. My husband was a committee member for that event so he has a lot of responsibility from the moment the staff check in until they check out from the hotel. He has no time for us and I was left in the room with my boys. It was really hard for me to go out from the room and handling 2 years and 6 months old children alone but regardless of that, I still went out and tried to make myself happy eventhough I know I was not happy at all!

Although it was such a bad experience, I still appreciate the beauty, the natural calmness of that place. Here are a few snaps of that place:-

    To the ocean

  • New Literature Component for 2010

    Date: 2009.10.13 | Category: Learning | Response: 0

We had a meeting announcing there would be a new literature component for next year. Everyone was shocked with the sudden news including me. We already had this existance version for more than eight years I guess! And now everything will be new. I really think that the changes is necessary coz I’m tired and getting sick repeating the same thing every year.

For this year, there would be a new component as well which is Drama! Sound interseting but I still wandering how I’m going to famaliriaze myself with it. Few years back learning drama and dramatizing a paly was such a tiring work and it was time consuming as well because we have to memorize the script, prepare for the costume, make up and a lot more. We have to make preparation for months for a less than 2 hours play. Is it worth it? Well, the experience is actually the key here and not the 2 hours outcome. We have learnt a lot from all those complex preparation.

Other than that, we also have 3 extra poems. So all together there are 6 poems.

    1. I Wonder

    2. The River

    3. Mr Nobody

    4. Heir Conditioning

    5. A Fighter’s Lines

    6. Leisure

I’ve never heard all those title before. Some of the poems were written by local poet and some came from other country. Hope I can find something useful on the internet.

Song of the Week

You're my honey bunch
Sugarplum
Pumpy-umpy-umpkin
You're my sweetie pie
You're my cuppy cake
Gumdrop
Snoogums-boogums
You're the apple of my eye

And I love you so and I want you to know
That I'll always be right here
And I love to sing sweet songs to you
Because you are so dear
