  • To google

To google – as a verb. Of course, everybody’s heard of Google the search engine – popular development of the 1990s. In fact, in 1999, Google was designated the most useful word by the American Dialect Society, as a verb! ‘I’m going to google.’ ‘We are googling.’ And, of course, there’s all sorts of associated words that have come since – you know, ‘we are googlers, if we google!’ And people who google a lot are ‘google-minded’, and I suppose there are lots of other coinages too.

The word itself comes from a mathematical term, ‘googol’, a term meaning 10 to the 100th power, an impossibly large concept, indeed. And, of course, the Google search engine has also become impossibly large! When you go searching for a word on Google, you might get a million hits, or 10 million hits, or a hundred million hits.

Of course, the penalty of success is when you have a word enter the language and it was originally a word that you thought you owned. In fact, the firm Google is very concerned over this use as a verb, because it is their trade mark – they like to keep the capital letter in the definition, for example – if you use it, they say, do use it with a capital ‘G’. But they’ve got a problem, I mean, no firm, no matter how big, can control language change!

They’re not the first firm to be worried about this sort of thing. Xerox, once upon a time, was very worried about the way their name had become part of the language as a whole, you know, ‘I’m going to xerox something’, meaning – I’m going to photocopy something. And Hoover was another one, you know, it now means any sort of vacuum cleaner. Of course, Hoover is a particular brand of vacuum cleaner. So Google are a bit worried about this use of their name as a verb, but they won’t be able to stop it. As I say, no firm, no matter how big, can control language change.

    Can anyone buff me?
    Photobucket

Here’s another new word that I came across “B-U-F-F”.
As an adjective “buff” means attractive. Somebody who is buff has an attractive body, they look ‘fit’.
As a noun, it is often used to describe a person who is really into a particular hobby or pastime. It’s usually combined with the word describing the hobby, so a film buff is someone who really loves film and probably knows quite a lot about it. The word buff here implies an enthusiastic or almost obsessional interest in something. As a verb ‘to buff’ means to polish or shine something with a cloth, to give something a shiny finish. This meaning is said to come from the word buffalo, an animal whose skin was used for leather and this leather was in turn often used to polish metal objects. From there came the adjective ‘buff’ meaning a dull yellow colour, the colour of the buffalo leather.

Boss walked into the office one morning not knowing that his zipper was down.

His secretary walked up to him and asked, ‘Boss this morning when you left your house, did you close your garage door?’ This was not a phrase that Her Boss understood, so he went into his Office looking a bit puzzled.

When he was about done with his paper work, he suddenly noticed that his Zipper was not zipped up. He zipped up and remembering what his Secretary had told him, finally understood.

He then intentionally went out to ask for a cup of coffee from his secretary. When he reached her desk, He said, ‘When you saw the garage door open did you see my jaguar parked In there?’ The secretary smiled for a moment and said, ‘No, Boss I didn’t. All I saw was a mini car with 2 flat tires

  • BOGOF?

It sounds really catchy right? At first I didn’t know the meaning of BOGOF until I came across one article. BOGOF actually an acronyms. What the hell acronyms is? Acronyms exist when you combine the first letters of the words in a phrase or the name of an organisation. So in this case, BOGOF stands for:

    B – buy

    O – one

    G – get

    O – one

    F – free

That’s is how we get the word BOGOF from. The word BOGOF sounds like an insult, “bog off” which means go away, leave me alone, don’t disturb me!
All people will be attracted with something ‘free’. They buy with the price of one then they’ll get another without paying extra money. Who could possibly say NO?
This strategy sometimes could be a waste. People sometimes easily get attracted with the gift simply because they think those product are good value for money. Sometimes the extra product is often simply thrown away.
So, why not come out with two version. One with the extra product and another without the extra product. Let us, the consumer decide which is the best for us.

Kissing in public. This is something taboo in my country. People don’t do this in an open place. We have an organitation to prohibit this act among the public. Although we live in multi racial country, everyone can respect and follow the laws.

Who says only William Butler Yeats can write such a nice and simpel poem? Inspired by his version of Lake Isle of Innesfree, this is my own masterpiece.

    Enchanted World

I will get up and walk now, walk to Enchanted World
And a big castle build there, of diamonds and pearls
Twenty nine servants will I have there, one for each task.
And live there with my love one.

There we shall have some peace and privacy
Starting from the morning to where the birds singing
    There noon an orangy glowing
    Then evening the flowers blooming
    And midnight warm and quiet

I shall go now, go to enchanted world
Where all the magical things can happen
I can feel wearing those beautiful gowns
    Dancing and kissing till midnight
    And live happily ever after

    ME

Hahaha…..what do you think? Sound like a fairy tale story right? Well, sometimes I just wish that I can go somewhere. Go to different place where I can get the true peace. But, if you make yourself closer to the great creator you’ll get the INNER PEACE which is for me the most important food for your soul.
